Moral Emphasis

Training up Children in the God-honoring Way

When the school aims for academic excellence with all the modern facilities and well researched and planned curriculum, there is a danger of neglecting another important aspect of education, that is, character formation. It is important to equally emphasize the character building of our children so that we not only produce intellectuals, but at the same time, people who are with a heart, who are morally upright as well.

Elim is guided by the Proverb of the ancient wise King Solomon, saying, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This reflects in our motto: Engaging Minds, Molding Lives. Our goal is academic excellence and character formation in our students. We believe that the students need to be morally groomed to be ethically sound to become responsible and upright people of the society.

With this in mind, we have planned for a series of weekly and occasional activities, and following are just a few of them:

Weekly Moral Lessons: We plan for weekly 45 minutes lessons with activities. Each lesson centers around a theme. It comes along with its own activities such as art and craft, puzzle, etc.

Video Shows: We have a series of videos on the lives of various people who have contributed to the society and impacted the lives of many through their upright character and selfless service to the society. These characters are taken from spiritual books, history books, and the contemporary society.

Special Programs: Occasionally we organize special programs and activities, such as, puppet shows, field trips, group games, with the idea of communicating to the children of the importance of loving one another, caring and supporting for one another, showing compassion and love for others, helping and encouraging the needy ones, etc.

Seminars for Parents: Occasionally the school organizes seminars for parents, bringing in experts of this field, to help the parents understand their parental responsibilities in upbringing the children in the correct way.
