Music Activities & Elim Melody

Co-Curricular Music

We understand that music is an integral part of the lives of the children and therefore Elim is committed to make music part of children’s school curriculum. We do so with the following purposes:

(a)  To introduce to children rhymes and action songs.

(b)  To introduce to children various musical instruments, such as traditional piano, keyboard, guitar, violin, flute, drums, etc.

(c)  To cultivate a desire for music and identify musically talented children at an early age by teaching them elements of music through music notations.

(d)  To introduce to selected children elements of instrumental music training.

In order to accomplish this, the school has acquired a brand new traditional piano, keyboard, guitars, and drums. In order to handle these instruments, the school has musically trained teachers, and our Principal herself is a trained pianist.

Extra-Curricular Music

In addition to co-curricular music, the school also offers extra-curricular music, especially instrumental training. This is done in the evenings 3.00 – 6.30. Children who are musically talented can be enrolled for this program. Following are the details:

Elim Melody

Elim Melody is the initiative of Elim Montessori Childcare and Preschool with the purpose of providing extracurricular instrumental music training to our students as well as other students who would join for learning instrumental music.

Courses Offered

Piano – Elementary and grade levels

Guitar – Elementary and grade levels

Aim

Our aim is to prepare children for ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exam grade after grade. We also prepare children for taking part in concerts organized by ourselves in our centre and in other places so that children can build up confidence and showcase their God-given talent.

Teachers

We have trained teachers for both piano and guitar classes. Many of our teachers have gone through the grade by grade learning of Piano and guitar and have taken the ABRSM (Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music) exams. Therefore they are in a position to prepare the children for ABRSM exams.
